Better Legacy is developed and operated by Luma Software ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Better Legacy mobile application and web app (together, the "Service"). Better Legacy is designed to help you plan and preserve your personal legacy for the people you love. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
We collect the following types of information: Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information you choose to share through those services. User-Generated Content: Information you voluntarily create within the Service, including legacy documents, letters, personal stories, memories, notes, uploaded files, family messages, and other content that forms part of your personal legacy. Family and Shared Content: When you use Family features, content you share with family members may be visible to those you have invited. Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Service, including features accessed, session duration, and anonymized crash reports. Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version.
We use your information to: • Provide and operate the Service's features (AI chat, legacy planning, family tools, document storage, etc.) • Enable Family features, including shared legacy documents and memories • Personalize your experience within the Service • Process and manage your subscription • Send important account notifications and service updates • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the Service • Respond to your support requests and feedback
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase employs industry-standard encryption for data both in transit (TLS) and at rest. Given the sensitive nature of legacy and estate planning content, we take data security especially seriously. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
We work with the following third-party services that may process your data: • Google Firebase — database storage, file storage, and authentication • RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — optional social authentication These services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Better Legacy includes features that allow you to share legacy content with family members. When you use these features: • Content you choose to share within a family group is visible to the members you have invited • You control who has access to your legacy content and can manage this from within the Service • Please be thoughtful about what sensitive personal or financial information you share digitally
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including legacy documents, stories, family content, and account information — is permanently deleted from our systems. To delete your account, go to Profile → Delete Account. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
You have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you — contact us at hello@betterlegacy.io • Correct inaccurate information through your Profile settings • Delete your account and all associated data via Profile → Delete Account • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account If you are located in the European Union, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Better Legacy is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly. Please contact us at hello@betterlegacy.io if you believe this has occurred.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
